Parent Section
Our Group
There are two ways that you need to look at the Woodridge Scout Group.
First, there is the hands-on work that the section leaders do and we call this ‘delivery of the programme’ to the youth members. A team of uniformed ‘Section Leaders’ (who have received formal training applicable to the age group that they are leading) perform program delivery each week and when they run camps for their Section.
No one, including the Group Leader, interferes with the delivery of the programme, unless a problem is identified. The Group Leader however does have a responsibility to parents and the Association for the management of every facet of the Group, including the programmes.
Second, there is the management of the group funds and equipment. This also includes the maintenance of the building, grounds and all gear. Resources such as camping equipment, consumables (pens, paper, glue, ropes, etc) for weekly programs and insurances are all necessary for the delivery of the Scout Program to our local youth. Like anything these things cost money and while a strategy is in place to minimise overheads, funds are still required and your assistance will be needed from time to time to help raise funds and our expectation is that you will avail yourself to assist.

Your Commitment
When your child joins Woodridge Scout Group, your family also becomes part of the scouting family and you join the Parent Section. Much like the other Sections this section also has night meetings and other activities to participate in.
It is hoped you will join this section and assist whenever possible to ensure the success of all our sections and your Scouts time with us.
-
We expect that you will help, whenever possible, on all fundraising activities;
-
Help on working bees (1 or 2 times a year);
-
Help the leaders during the year on meeting nights and on camps and other outings when called upon;
-
Help with transport to camps and activities;
-
Pay your fees on time
In time, your services on the Executive or as a leader will be very welcomed, if you so desire. The leaders and parents that keep Woodridge Scout Group operating need, and deserve, the best that you can offer. We cannot work effectively without everyone’s help.
We are not a babysitting service but a family that supports each other.
We look forward to seeing you around our big family for years to come!
